Oh, and don’t forget the rustic patio that’s one of the best patios in Calgary during the spring and summer patio season.

Atmosphere & Service

Inside of Bonterra you’ll find a dimly lit atmosphere with rustic decor and a beige and green color palette that mix well with the brick and wood finishings. For large groups, there’s a back room that can seat upwards of three dozen people at once.

Every single time I’ve been to Bonterra Trattoria the service has been impeccable. Good service can really make or break your dining experience anywhere, and is why the restaurant has received a 9.5 for it, deducting only a half point because it wasn’t perfect.

Our Food

Polpette – $15.00 – veal meatballs, tomato, basil, grana padano, extra virgin olive oil

Covered in a rich tomato sauce and drizzled with olive oil, these veal meatballs will melt in your mouth. It’s hard to eat just one. Thankfully, Bonterra gives you six to chomp down on by yourself or to share.

Calamari – $16.00 – arugula, sundried tomato, kalamata olive, currant, almonds

This calamari is a real treat because it isn’t deepfried like at most other restaurants, but grilled and seasoned to perfection with the ingredients above. There’s enough arugula that almost makes it like a calamari salad, which could make a delightful appetizer if you’re looking for something light.

Linguine Carbonara – $22.00 – wild boar bacon, fresh egg, chilies, grana padano

I’ve had few linguine carbonara’s that are as good as this one. The wild boar bacon compliments the cream sauce perfectly, while the fresh egg and chilies top off each bite with their own flavour. We love this dish!

The next time you’re up for some gourmet Italian cuisine at a reasonable price, you’ll definitely want to check our Bonterra Trattoria in the beltline – we highly recommend this place!
