Calgary’s 3rd Highest Month for Luxury Home Sales Activity Ever
Luxury homes continue to be one of the main courses on the menu for many buyers in Calgary as the city experienced its third highest amount of luxury home sales ever in April of 2014.
A total of 79 luxury homes priced over the $1 million marker were sold throughout last month.
The highest amount ever recorded was in May of 2013 with 83 sales, while the second highest was in May of 2012 with 80.
Of those 79 sold last month, 75 are single-family properties and the remaining 4 condominiums. This is a 23.4 percent year over year increase for the price bracket.
March of 2014 also saw 79 million dollar listings sold. Since 2009, it is the first time that luxury sales did not drop from March to April.
According to our latest Calgary Real Estate Market Update for April 2014, warmer weather has led to an increase in new listings for all sectors of housing including luxury properties.
Buyers now have more options when it comes to finding the right property that fits their wants, needs and lifestyle best.

Surprisingly enough, the most costly property sold last month was a new luxury condominium at The River in Mission with a price tag of $3.19 million.
The River Condos holds the title for most expensive condominium ever sold in Calgary at $8.99 million.
Year to Date Statistics
Since the beginning of 2014, luxury sales have increased 12.8 percent over the same time frame in 2013 for a total of 265 properties.
It is very likely that 2014 could be another record breaking year considering that 2013 was a record year of its own.
