    Calgary Luxury Housing Market

    Luxury homes for sale in Calgary, Alberta, come in many shapes and sizes. Over the years, our city’s high-end residential market has exploded with new product, particularly in the infill category with rapid redevelopment of inner city communities. Today, you’ll find many luxury homes in neighbourhoods like Altadore, Britannia, Bridgeland, Crescent Heights, Roxboro, Rideau Park, Upper Mount Royal, and other similar areas.     Additionally, ultra-private acreage estates have surged in appeal. In areas like Bearspaw, Elbow Valley, Heritage Pointe, Harmony, Springbank, Rocky View County and Foothills County, you’ll find many luxurious Calgary-area mansions on sprawling acreage lots. These ultra-private residences provide homeowners with a luxurious lifestyle with lots of land and, in many instances, panoramic foothill and mountain views.

    Furthermore, a surge in newer, ultra-luxurious condominiums like The Concord, The River, and The VIEWS are offering buyers a new kind of luxury living across the city, particularly in the downtown and Beltline areas, but also in some suburban communities like Cougar Ridge.

    What is Considered a Luxury Home in Calgary?

    Features: Luxury real estate in Calgary is almost always characterized by attributes such as custom designed architecture, expansive living space, large lot sizes, exceptional privacy, and spectacular views to name a few. It’s not rare to find an indoor swimming pool, several bedrooms, or a mini movie theatre in the most luxurious Calgary residences.

    Price: Typically, luxury properties in the CMA are priced from the $1 million+ range, although today you can still find high-end condos, infills, and suburban homes in the $800,000 to $900,000 range across the city. The most expensive homes in Calgary have sold for nearly $20 million in the past (in Pump Hill), while the most expensive high-end rural properties have sold for much more than that. The most expensive condo listing in our city’s recent history is at The Princeton in Eau Claire for $9.5 million.

    History: Another important characteristic of Calgary luxury real estate is history; in some communities like Upper Mount Royal, for example, many homes were built in the early 1900s by wealthy Americans who brought with them their architecture which today has contributed in transcending the neighbourhood into being one of the most sought-after amongst high-end homebuyers.
