Calgary Landmarks – Eighth Avenue Place

Eighth Avenue Place is located in the heart of Calgary on 8th Avenue SW and 9th Avenue SW and between 4th Street SW and 5th Street SW. Eventually this Calgary landmark will have another shorter tower in addition to the current 49 story tower. The first building contains 1.1 million square feet, and the second will contain about 700,000 square feet, totalling a whopping 1.8 million plus square feet between the two.

Tower 2 of this beautiful and iconic office tower is now under construction (May 2012) and is the first new tower to go up in the last few years. Office vacancy is low and the demand is high for quality office space downtown.

Design for the Calgary landmark is innovative, with inspiration from the Rocky Mountains. As you notice in the picture, the contour of the tops of the buildings imitate the shape of the mountains to the west to a certain degree. Such a beautifully designed high-rise will add even more character to the evolving downtown Calgary skyline, while offering much needed office space for companies.

Not only is the complex of stunning architecture, but is also certified by the USA Green Building Council as a LEED Platinum category tower, the first of its kind in Canada. Basically this means the building is pro green surpassing standards for reducing energy consumption in high rise buildings by far.
