Calgary Landmarks – The Bow Tower

Calgary Bow Tower

Bow Tower Calgary InfographicThe Bow Tower

As I walk by the Bow Tower and look up, I am truly amazed by its size. Then I think to myself how minute it really is in comparison to other high-rises around the world that are twice or more in size, which isn’t an uncommon sight.

No matter, The Bow Tower is a nice addition to the Calgary skyline and is the tallest building in Western Canada. When people think of the city, they will picture the Bow Tower, the Calgary Tower and maybe, just maybe the smaller, less dominating Petro-Canada Centre.

The Bow Tower in Calgary by Foster + Partners is the first building by the internationally renowned architect design group in all of Canada. The 58 storied high-rise will be home to the energy giants EnCana and Cenovus Energy and has an abundance of square feet available for other businesses looking to lease in downtown Calgary.

Covering most of two city blocks, the skyscraper is a hard to miss Calgary landmark as it looms over downtown with its sheer size and is seen at a distance from any city quadrant. More information found at the Bow Tower in Calgary.

It is good the City of Calgary decided on restricting the height of the high-rise to prevent a permanent shadowing of the rivers during the day time. River pathways and networks along the Bow River are an important inner city attraction and would not benefit in popularity by being shadowed all hours of the day.
