If the Calgary Stampede isn’t enough of an annual eye opener in proving how people in Calgary come together, how they demonstrate passion for their city and the residents in it, then maybe the flood of 2013 will help.

The recent floods back in late June 2013 were unlike anything most Calgarians had ever seen before. Its sheer destructiveness was unprecedented as it ripped through countless homes, displacing tens of thousands from their abodes and in some instances even caused the loss of life. May God bless their souls and families. Happy People Smiling

This world-wide news event has taken its toll on our wonderful city and province, however what is even more incredible between the day the flood began and now is how it has united us all!

Why? Because Calgary is a refreshing place, where there are lots of summer activities including huge events like the Calgary Stampede and other world-renowned festivals such as the Folk Island Music Festival.

Not far from Calgary are more interesting and beautiful spots to adventure in: Banff, Drumheller, Jasper and its wondrous glacier field, Kananaskis Country plus tons more pristine National Parks and unique settings.

Winter in Calgary is beautiful. Yes, it can be cold, but we are fortunate to have surprise Chinooks make their way into Calgary and every now and then we have a week or two of decently warm weather.

For those who do love this season, Calgary is full of winter activities once again. Not only do skiers and snowboarders have quick access to Canada Olympic Park, but there are several mountain ski resorts found less than 3 hours away.

Needless to say, we Calgarians do a good job of embracing the inevitable fact that we have to experience the good ol’ Canadian winters.

Last but certainly not least, spring in Calgary is stunning. Our trees and flowers bloom within a couple weeks and the city prepares itself for another beautiful spring and summer.
