Calgary’s music scene really comes to life during the summer months through an eclectic mix of local festivals and events. While our world-renowned festivals attract tens of thousands, Calgary clubs do not but are definitely worthy of such a crowd with their own unique blend of performances and genres.

In case you feel like continuing to get your groove on after a festival, or perhaps on any day of the week just because, here are our top 5 Calgary clubs for summer groovin’. Enjoy!

West Rooftop Patio

West’s Rooftop Patio is the ultimate summer clubbin’ destination in Calgary. It really is as close as it gets to those rooftop day and nightclubs in Vegas (without the pool) and is sometimes even just as bumpin’.

Just remember if you want to do some summer groovin’ on the rooftop patio, it’s in your best interests to head down to WEST early, maybe even for a delicious dinner first as you have full access to the club afterwards. Before you know it, the place is transformed into one of Calgary’s best summer club destinations!

Hifi Club

Hifi is high up on our list of the top Calgary clubs for dancing the night away. Part dance floor, part lounge and bar, Hifi’s thumping sound system is like a magnet for those who love to dance to electronic beat genres ranging from dubstep and breakbeats to bass and techno.

Hifi’s artsy ambiance is a great place to let loose and have a little summer fun no matter what kind of clubber you are.

Habitat

Found on First Street in Victoria Park, Habitat draws from the local vibrancy of the beltline community and sums it all up into one amazing nightclub. From Wednesday to Saturday Habitat has a full spectrum of modern electronica plus a few others genres including indie and rap played by must-see local, national and international talent.

Although it might be small compared to other Calgary clubs, what Habitat lacks in size is more than made up for through an exhilarating party atmosphere and bumpin’ beats.

Ranchman’s

For some, Stampede is too short-lived which is why we have country nightclubs like the Ranchman’s to supplement our cowgirl and cowboy needs year round.

Ranchman’s is one of the top Calgary club destinations for summer groovin’ to say the least. Start the day off at 4:00pm with some pub-style food, get warmed up afterwards by participating in one of the many dance lessons offered (Wednesday to Friday), then end the night off solid with hours of line dancing and more fun with the wildest cowboys and cowgirls around! Flames Central

Flames Central is a polished gem among rough stones when it comes to Calgary clubs. As one of the classiest and largest nightclub venues’ in town, Flames Central is host to some of the biggest names in the music industry from a variety of genres.

There’s no trade for quality music in a very comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere like Flames Central. The best part, its location on Stephen Avenue Walk makes it easy to reach after dinner or perhaps while club hopping on a night out in Calgary.

Black Betty

During the day, Black Betty (Burger & Wine Bar) serves up some of the best burgers in Calgary. At night, it turns into one of the most happening clubs around.

Black Betty has an opulent feel to it made true by sophisticated finishings, dim but seducing bar lights and comfy restaurant style seats (a given). It’s a very comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the live music performances and DJ’s they have playing at least 3 times a week. Check it out!

Commonwealth

It's rare for Calgary clubs to have more than one music room at their venue like at Commonwealth on 10th Avenue SW.

Upstairs you'll find a wild dance floor surrounded by bars and comfy seating areas, downstairs is more of a loungy chill spot with a dance floor of its own. If you don't like the music upstairs or vice versa, you can always head to the other music room to get your groove on! They usually have different genres playing in each room for exactly that reason!
