Calgaryism's Best Breakfast in SW CalgaryBest Breakfast Southwest Calgary

There’s no better way to start the day than to have a good, hearty breakfast.

Sometimes we don’t always feel like cooking during the early hours of the morning and would prefer to hit up a favourite breakfast restaurant close to home.

If you happen to live in the southwest, you probably already know a handful of the best breakfast spots to check out when it’s time to relax and have someone else do the cooking.

But just in case you don't or are looking for a new spot, here are Calgaryism's best breakfast restaurants in SW Calgary. Also check out these Best Breakfast Spots in NW Calgary today!

Holy GrillCalgaryism Eggs Benedict Best Breakfast Calgary

  • Address – 827 10th Avenue SW
  • Phone Number – 403-261-9759
  • Cost – $9 to $15

There are few places in Calgary where you can still get a top-of-the-line breakfast for less than $10. Holy Grill… holy art thou for being one of them.

Try the Calgaryism omelette (seen in the picture above) – bacon, ham, avocado, banana peppers and a whole bunch of other lovely ingredients that will knock your socks off.

Sweet Life Crepes & Coffee House

  • Address – #7, 6449 Crowchild Trail SW
  • Phone Number – 403-685-5774
  • Cost - $11 to $15

If you’re looking for a unique Euro-style breakfast experience, then a trip to Sweet Life Crepes & Coffee House should be a go.

I highly recommend one of their crepes, or, if you’re going for protein the Regular Joe, a Belgian waffle topped with two scrambled eggs and your choice of a beef breakfast sausage or smoked maple bacon. Comes with hot maple syrup, yummy!

MONKI Breakfastclub & BistroMONKI Steak and Eggs

  • Address – 1301 10th Avenue SW
  • Phone Number – 587-352-7131
  • Cost – $10 to $20

MONKI Breakfastclub & Bistro is a newer southwest breakfast restaurant that has made a strong impression on the local foodie community, also making it one of the Top 5 Breakfast Restaurants in Connaught.

I highly recommend the 6oz angus steak & eggs, comes with mushrooms, goat cheese and hollandaise sauce… my mouth is just watering thinking about it!

Patisserie Du Soliel

  • Cost - $10 to $15

Find yourself in the deep southwest but don’t feel like travelling too far to reach a good breakfast restaurant? If so, check out Patisserie Du Soliel in Woodbine!

This French bakery / restaurant serves up some of our favourite traditional breakfast eats with a French twist to them, of course. Oh, and make sure to grab a bag of their delicious apple stroodles and other delicious pastries for later!

Laurier LoungeBest Calgary Breakfast Eats at the Laurier lounge

  • Address – 1111 7th Street SW
  • Phone Number – 403-228-3771
  • Cost - $12 to $15

Laurier Lounge’s heritage building isn’t only beautiful, but promotes a relaxing breakfast experience every time.

I would recommend the Laurier Brunch Plate; it comes with one egg benedict of your choice (smoked salmon, pancetta, traditional or mushroom forestiere), a strawberry crepe, hashbrowns and bacon.

Phil’s Restaurant on Glenmore Trail

  • Phone Number – 403-252-6061
  • Cost - $9 to $15

Three things are always guaranteed at Phil’s Restaurant on Glenmore: good service, great food and affordable prices. It is also one of the best Calgary family restaurants as it is very accommodating for families with children of all ages.

Try the west coast omelette - smoked sockeye salmon, cream cheese, onion marmalade, grilled tomatoes topped with benny hollandaise sauce. If you like fish, you’ll love this dish!

Pfanntastic Pannenkoek HausCalgary Hidden Gems Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus Dutch Restaurant

  • Address – 2439 54th Avenue SW
  • Phone Number – 403-243-7757
  • Cost - $8 to $18

Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus is the only authentic Dutch pancake house in Calgary. If you haven’t been, you must go and experience this place at least once!

Dutch pancakes kind of remind me of pizza in a way as they are both circular and are topped with ingredients. Try any Pannenkoek that has ingredients you’ll love, mine is the Rosti, ui, spek en kaas – shredded potato, onion, bacon and cheese.

Cucina

Located in the base of Eighth Avenue Place, Cucina is a convenient breakfast pit-stop for downtown workers in the early hours of the morning.

Try the wild B.C. mushrooms & poached eggs on toast creation, a must try for benny lovers and those who enjoy an absolutely delicious and different kind of breakfast dish.

Reds Diner on 4th StreetReds Diner Mission Calgary

  • Address – 1415 4th Street SW
  • Phone Number – 403-266-3448
  • Cost - $10 to $15

Reds Diner has long been a favourite for breakfast not only in Mission, but in the entire city. People come from all over the southwest head to the inner city neighbourhood for Red’s exceptional food time and time again.

I personally love the Classic 3 Egg Omelette: mushrooms, ham, green onions, tomato and cheddar cheese served with tasty hashbrowns. For something lighter try the Oatmeal Brulee, served with caramelized cinnamon sugar and your choice of toast.

Galaxie Diner

  • Address – 1413 11th Street SW
  • Phone Number – 403-228-0001
  • Cost - $10 to $15

Galaxie Diner is well known for both its savoury Montréal smoked meat sandwiches and yummy breakfast / brunch meals.

I usually get the breakfast burrito – scrambled eggs, bacon, beef sausage, cheese, onions, sautéed mushrooms and banana peppers rolled into a flour tortilla. If you’re on the road, call in 10 minutes before you arrive and it’ll be warm and ready to go!
