Happy holidays Calgary, Alberta! With New Years’ Eve almost here, it may just be time to start planning for the big night!

If you’re looking for some of the best Calgary New Years’ Eve 2014 / 2015 events, below you’ll find a variety of celebrations happening on December 31st, 2014, ranging from family-friendly to adult-only.

OLYMPIC PLAZA NEW YEARS' EVE

  • When – 9:00pm to 12:00am
  • Where – Olympic Plaza – 228 8th Avenue SE
  • Cost – Free

Olympic Plaza’s annual NYE countdown and celebration will have live fire performances, ice sculptures and live music from top 40 to old favourites.

NEW YEARS' EVE AT FORT CALGARY

  • When – Dinner event from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, dancing at 10:00pm
  • Where – Fort Calgary Main Barracks – 750 9th Avenue SE
  • Cost - $150 per person for dinner and dance events, $50 per person for dance party

History of Calgary - Fort CalgaryIf you like live theatre, then NYE at Fort Calgary may be for you! Enjoy a catered meal and drinks while watching a murder mystery unfold before your very eyes.

Not into the dinner and theatre? Check out the dance party on afterwards starting at 10:00pm!

PURE WHITE

  • When – December 28th, 2014, 7:00pm to 2:00am
  • Where – BMO Centre – Victoria Park
  • Cost - $100 to $130 per person, 18+ event

While Pure White may not be happening exactly on December 31st, 2014, its line-up of some of the best trance DJ’s from around the world makes it an event that electronic dance music lovers won’t want to miss.

NEW YEARS' EVE FAMILY DANCE PARTY

  • When – 7:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Where – City Hall – 800 Macleod Trail SE
  • Cost – Free

Calgary City Hall DowntownCity Hall is hosting its annual family dance party, a choice for many families to ring in the New Year. Children of all ages will have a blast playing games, making crafts and checking out the living statues.

The event is only on for two hours, giving parents time to make some plans without the kids if they choose.

ZOO YEARS’ EVE

  • When – 6:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Where – Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE
  • Cost – Adults - $17, Children - $13

Zoo Year’s Eve has been, and always will be one of the most popular NYE events in Calgary.

This year it will have a wide range of entertainment including 1.5 million colored lights in a variety of displays, live cultural performances from a handful of different countries and last, but not least, a magnificent display of fireworks starting at 8:00pm.

ULTIMATE COWBOY RODEO

  • When – Doors open at 8:00pm
  • Where – Agrium Centre, Stampede Park – 1410 Olympic Way SE
  • Cost – General Admission - $25, Youth - $19

Birdseye View Calgary Stampede 2014After three years in Ponoka, the Ultimate Cowboy Rodeo has changed its location to the host of the “greatest outdoor show on Earth”. Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Stampede lovers, rodeo buffs and those who like their fair share of western cultural entertainment will enjoy this “more concentrated” version of your typical rodeo show, which will also test participants on skills that may be outside of their comfort zone.

FUNNYFEST COMEDY NYE EXTRAVAGANZA

  • When – 6:00pm to 7:30pm, 8:00pm to 3:00am
  • Where – Marda Loop Community Centre – 3130 16th Street SW
  • Cost – Early show - $30, Dinner and main show - $100

Laugh your way into the New Year with family and friends at the FunnyFest Comedy NYE Extravaganza, hosted by FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival. Award-winning comedian Tommy Savitt, among a handful of other top-notch comedians, will have you laughing all night long!

Choose between a short hour and a half comedy show, starting at 6:00pm, or the full dinner and show package starting at 8:00pm and lasting until 3:00am. Dinner includes a prime-rib buffet with 10 items.

TELUS SPARK NYE

  • When – 10:00am, NYE Countdown at 12:00pm (noon)
  • Where – Telus SPARK – 220 St. Georges Dr. NE
  • Cost – Adults - $19.95, Seniors - $17.95, Youth – $15.95, Children - $12.95

Telus SPARKTELUS Spark Earth Water Exhibit offers a chance for children of all ages to have their own kind of NYE countdown without staying up to all hours of the night, while also possibly giving parents to make some adult plans of their own.

All exhibits and live science demonstrations will also be part of the fun!

BOW’S NEW YEARS' EVE PARTY

  • When – 10:00am to 4:00pm
  • Where – Bow Habitat Station – 1440 17A Street SE
  • Cost – Adults - $10, Seniors - $8, Youth - $6, Children 4 and under – free

Similar to Telus SPARK NYE, this event is geared towards younger children and families looking to have an early NYE countdown celebration (at noon).

Have fun at the dance party, get creative at the face-painting stations and have a blast with a bunch of other family-friendly activities throughout the day.

NEW YEARS' EVE FAMILY POOL PARTY

  • When – 5:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Where – Village Square Leisure Centre – 2623 56th Street NE
  • Cost – Family admission - $25.15, separate fees for additional family members

The Best Swimming Pools in CalgaryVillage Square Leisure Centre’s waterpark has it all! Water slides big and small, a massive wave pool, hot tub and sauna and a safari-themed waterpark will make sure that everyone in the family is fully entertained on New Years’ Eve!
