Wheatland County is a massive prairie municipal district to the east of Calgary. It is home to several municipalities such as Carseland, Cheadle, Chancellor, Nightingale and Gleichen, and surrounds the town of Strathmore – about 50 kilometres east of Calgary.

Strathmore is also home to several more public schools designated for students of all ages from kindergarten to Grade 12.

Wheatland County residents have some level of freedom in choosing what school their children attend, although most select those closest to home.
