It’s been more than a week now since WURST Restaurant & Beer Hall in Mission reopened its doors to the public.
This is very good news for us all here in Calgary, as WURST was and still is one of the best places in the southwest inner city to socialize over food and drinks.
In late June of 2013, WURST and countless other businesses, homes and condos in Mission were engulfed by water due to the flash flooding of the Elbow River. For WURST, a restaurant with its main hall and kitchen in the basement, this spelled absolute disaster.
Only the giant wooden tables were salvaged, sent off to be reclaimed, and are now being used once again. Everything else is brand new and the restaurant has now invested in some flood prevention systems that should keep things “above water” if a similar flash flooding event were to happen anytime soon.
Those who enjoyed WURST’s ambiance 6 months ago will be happy to know that the renovated interior is almost identical to that of before save a few minor design changes.

More Opening in Mission
In the coming months there will be some other restaurants and businesses opening their doors for the first time since late June of 2013. We can all do our part and help them by acquiring their services – every little bit counts!
Earl’s Tin Palace, another one of my favourite restaurants in Mission, is undergoing a complete renovation and should be open by March of 2014. Both WURST, and Earl’s Tin Palace are two of the Best Calgary Late Night Restaurants around!
